Deepalayans on a Transformation Spree!!!
The tender buds of Deepalaya on the footsteps of Deepalaya, carrying forward its baton of enlightening and transforming lives. At such young age when most of us are absorbed in toys and chocolates, Deepalayans already making a mark by undertaking the immense responsibility on their fragile shoulders.
In order to retain the trust of the people and spread awareness about various Rights and Laws especially meant for the protection of women, the Delhi Police celebrated the Delhi Police Week between (16February-22February). Students of Deepalaya were invited to sensitize the public on issues of social relevance. Two groups of students from Education on Wheels (EOW) and South Delhi project performed street plays on “literacy” and “traffic rules” as Illiteracy and breach of traffic rules has emerged as major issues contributing to crime rate.
In the narrow, down trodden lanes of Tihar village and Pili kothi near Hari Nagar which are thrown back in times, Deepalayans put across a wonderful street play. They incited people to take up initiatives against illiteracy and highlighted the importance of girl child education, which was liked by one and all. Traffic rules, coming from the mouth of tiny tots moved the multitudes and they realize the essence of the play.
“Coming from dark backgrounds and with the least of the amenities available, the students are shouldering responsibilities to change the society” said Mr. Vijendra Singh, S.H.O, Hari Nagar appreciating exertion of our students. The whole team of police
praised the work of Deepalaya and exhortation of the students, as they joined hands with the brigade of ‘With you, for you always’!!!
