Dream Runners '10

I chased my Dreams at Deepalaya!

Around 7 years back I joined the Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension. I had never imagined that one day my School  would become the stepping stone to my dreams. Music always had a special place in my life and besides studies; I always participated in various music competitions in the School.

My father works on a daily wage basis in export factories….although he wanted me to pursue my dreams, finances were always a constraint. Deepalaya recognized my talents and understood my ambitions. My teachers helped me  get admission in the prestigious Gandharva Mahavidyalaya at Delhi, one of the most reputed universities teaching classical Indian  music. I am pursuing my Bachelors in Music, as well as Graduation from Delhi University in English. 10 years down the line I see myself as a successful playback singer in the Indian Music Industry like my idols A.R.Rahman and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

I am proud to represent my Deepalaya as a Dream Runner in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2010…….after all  I see myself closer to achieving my dreams. Please join hands so that together we can give wings to the Dreams of many more like me” - Anand Prakash

Dreams Unlimited……!

“Deepalaya is an organization that guides the needy from darkness to light! I have been part of Deepalaya since I was in 6th grade. Although, I was studying in a government School, I joined Deepalaya’s Non- Formal Education classes which helped me thoroughly. The guidance I received from the teachers here was something that I value till date. Because of this, I topped in three consecutive years receiving free books from the government School and free stationery from Deepalaya.

Life was never easy for us. My father, a daily wage labourer dreamt of a  better future for me , my brother and sister. I started working part time even when I in School.  My dreams of becoming an artist seemed distant………you need money to become one. On coming to know about my ambitions, Deepalaya teachers and my sponsors and supported my enrollment in a course in Animation from Picasso Animation College. One day I will too sponsor a child from Deepalaya

Becoming a Dream Runner for MY Deepalaya is my way of saying Thank you……to all those involved in helping me realize my dreams.  I want to encourage more children like me to dream……..and I want to support MY Deepalaya  to help them fulfill their dreams. Please  help me reach the Dream Runners stand at the upcoming Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2010. ” - Pradeep Kumar

I want to run to raise support for Educating my Peers!

“My association with Deepalaya goes back to the days when I was admitted  in LKG(lower kindergarten) at Deepalaya School Sanjay Colony. My father, a daily wage labourer  struggled to make both ends meet for our  family of 8 members ! Deepalaya allowed him to give his children education. I completed Grade 10 from Deepalaya  and then went on to complete my schooling from a Government School. I remained a topper within and outside Deepalaya. Besides academics, I have won many prizes in drawing competition and have been awarded by the former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and the current President of India, Shrimati Pratibha Patil as well. I feel it is the overall development that helps shape a child’s future.

Presently, I am pursuing a part time course in BCA from IGNOU, sponsored once again by MY Deepalaya. I also take tuitions for children in my neighborhood and am proud of the fact that though  I am just nineteen years old, I bring in  some money and help my dad. Five years down the line I see myself working in a multi-national company as a software engineer.

As a Dream Runner, I want to help MY Deepalaya educate more students like me …..teach them to dream……and give wings to their dreams. Help me reach my position please.”  - Komal Rathod

I am proud to be the FIRST  GIRL in my village to have completed my schooling!!!

Deepalaya has been nurturing me since the time I joined in LKG. My association continues even after completing schooling. The amount of opportunities that Deepalaya gives to its students is amazing. The teachers here helped me learn well and also develop an overall personality. I have won many prizes in drawing and painting. That is how I realized that my true calling is in designing. I have currently  joined an Advanced Diploma Course in Software Engineering, but ten years down the line, I see myself working as a professional graphic designer. I also want to buy my own house with my salary one day.

I am proud of the fact that the money I would be able to raise being a Dream Runner, would further help MY Deepalaya educate many more underprivileged children.I look forward to your kind support”    - Poonam

All I had to was  Dream…………..!

“My batch  passed out of Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension three years back. But unlike my classmates I still get to experience the richness of my School as I have now come back as the School Nurse. I recently completed a training in  Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery course, with the support of my sponsors at Deepalaya .

My family was never keen that I continue beyond Middle School. A career for me…was never planned out. But I had always nurtured my Dreams of becoming a nurse and caring for the sick. My teachers convinced my parents to let me pursue my dreams. Today as I put on my white coat and motivate my young friends to take care of their health……I feel out of this world.

I was also a keen sports enthusiast while in School- high jump, long jump, basketball, Kho-Kho, netball….I was into every sport. And that’s why I have decided to be a Dream Runner for MY Deepalaya. Please help me in realizing yet another Dream ………of keeping the  Deepalaya Flag  flying  and the dreams of its students soaring high.    -  Shama Parveen

I am Running to inspire many more like me!

Hi I am Vijaylakshmi and I have been a part of Deepalaya  fo as long as my memory takes me back.  My father works as a local vendor and I have 4 siblings. The decision to send me to school  was a tough one for my parents, an educated daughter was unheard of in our extended family!! But Deepalaya’s constant motivation converted them…..and today they do not regret that decision.

After finishing my schooling, I have come  back as a teacher…… a role I always dreamt of. When parents see me now, they realize the value of educating their girls. Apart from  academics, I learnt music, art and dance at Deepalaya. Its exciting to teach the same  to my students……they love every bit of it. cs.

As a Dream Runner, I want to inspire many more  parents to come forward  and educate their GIRLS….after all an educated girl makes an educated and aware family.  I look forward to your support  to reach me  to the Draem Team- Vijay Laxmi
