Education Highlights 1 ( Annual Report 2011)


  • Keeping in mind the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation- recommended by CBSE, a common curriculum was chalked out for all the Deepalaya Schools. The teaching and the examinations /evaluation took into account the Summative and Formative assessments (exams), assignments and practicals. The cumulative marks of the entire tests and two terminal exams were taken into consideration for promotion.

  • An Inter Deepalaya Schools Quiz competition was organized in Sep’10.Mr.A J Philip, President Deepalaya, was the Quiz Master. All Deepalaya schools participated in the competition representing their team. The Competition was won by DSKE. Purna Bahadur and Reena from the DSG participated and won a participation prize.
    • Students of DSSC and Bal Bhavan Public School, Mayur Vihar jointly produced a documentary film on energy conservation -“Aise socha tha kya?” The young filmmakers were awarded the Karmveer Puruskar for their efforts. In addition to this, DSSC has also been awarded NDTV Greenathon Internship for PVR Nests’ Cine Art 2010.

    • In December, 2010, 50 students from Deepalaya went to the National Science Center, Pragati Maidan for the inauguration of the ‘Water and Waste Management Gallery’.

    • 1000 students from Deepalaya schools along with teachers participated in a ‘WALK FOR BLOOD’ organized by the Rotary Club of India on 5 December, 2010
      • Students from DSKE won prizes in the ‘Diamond of the Dusk: a singing competition’ conducted by Events plus Charitable Trust.
      • The choir group of DSKE won 1st Prize at “SWARAM Junior” Competition organized by St.Thomas Mar Thomas Syrian Church Choir.
      • Students from Deepalaya School Titron took part in the Bharartiya Gyan Sanskriti exam conducted by Shanti Kunj Hardiwar. The first three positions in the state (UP) exam were bagged by Bharti, Anshu and Deepa.
      Education projects of Deepalaya and their highlights
      • All schools encouraged frequent interaction with the parents through formal parent teachers meetings every month. Additionally home visits were undertaken to follow up on cases of irregularity, drop outs which helped the parents to respond more responsibly to the need of their children

      • As part of the English Access Micro Scholarship Program, a 100 students attended a mid term intensive program. Through their participation in theatre, music and dance sessions, the students got an opportunity to learn more about American culture and way of life as well as gain further confidence in their English language proficiency.
      • A five day Netball camp was organized for the Goal team players of DSKE and DSSC from the 21st of March to the 25th of March 2011.

      • 100 students from the Deepalaya Choral group participated in the Youth Festival during Commonwealth Games celebration 2010. The Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Sheila Dikshit joined the children on the stage

      • Anshu of class V (DSKE) won the first prize in the junior category and Shivam from DSGK won a consolation prize in the same category at a drawing competition held at Parliament Library on Children’s Day

      • In Nov 2010, the Amway Opportunity Foundation conducted eye screening program for students across all the Schools. Over a 2500 benefited.
