Symphony Recreated!

Deepalaya’s Choral Group sung live at the All India Radio on ‘Public Service Broadcasting Day’ on the occasion of the 62nd Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s first and only Live Broadcast on All India Radio. The 48 children of Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension sung on two Hindi Numbers i.e. ‘Taaqat Watan Ki Humse hai’ and ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’. After the broadcast, Director General of All India Radio, Ms. Noreen Naqvi commended the performance of the children. The same day the children sang at Gandhi King Plaza in Indian International Centre on the occasion of ‘Taking children to Gandhi’ which was covered by Doordarshan. The children were praised by the audience and they sung in Harmony with the help of their Choral Master, Mr. Sunny Verughese. On 13th November, 09 the same Choral Group performed at Shri Satya Sai Auditorium, Lodi Road. The students also presented two skits, one on the issue of ‘girl child development’ and the other on the ‘disuse of plastic to save the environment.’ These performances bejeweled the occasion of the felicitation of Rtn. Kalyan Banerjee, the Rotary International president nominee for the year 2011-12, by the Rotary Club. The young humming birds of Deepalaya infused the atmosphere with their harmonious voices performing on the occasion of the felicitation of Rotary India President Nominee 2011-12, Kalyan Baneerjee accompanied by his gracious spouse Binota. The Choral group of Deepalaya makes its presence registered remarkably well wherever it goes. The well disciplined children occupied the seats in the auditorium with poise and later enthralled the audience with two beautiful songs- “Hum ko mann ki shakti dena” and “Andhre jahan main hum ek shamma jala denge.” Deepalaya continues with its effort towards making a difference in the lives of children and in bringing out their latent talents. On 1st Nov, 09 nineteen member choral group from Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension won the 2nd prize in ‘Dhwani’, a Music Competition organized by the St. Thomas CNI (Church of North India). The children received a trophy for the School, rolling trophy and cash prize of Rs. 200/ for singing songs in harmony, i.e., ‘Sweet Chiming Bells’ and “Chamka Ek Sitara’. They bagged this award for the second consecutive year. More laurels, a similar event happened on 18th Oct, 09 wherein 11 students of the Deepalaya Choir Group participated in ‘Swaram Junior’ choral competition organized by the St. Thomas Mar Thoma Syrian Christian Church Karol Bagh and bagged 2nd prize for the same. The students sung two Christian songs in harmony, i.e., ‘Sweet Chiming Bells’ and “Chamka Ek Sitara’ and were awarded with a trophy for the School, rolling trophy and cash prize of Rs. 400/.
