In the crowded slums of Delhi-NCR, a young girl’s education remains fragile, and it is often the first thing sacrificed when a family struggles to survive. Girls as young as seven are pulled out of school to manage household chores, look after younger siblings, or take up unsafe daily-wage work. Once out of the classroom, they are left exposed to child labour, early marriage, and a cycle of poverty that can last a lifetime and pass on to the next generation.
Yet the reverse is equally true. An educated girl marries later, earns more, raises healthier children, and ensures that her own daughters go to school. Investing in one girl’s education transforms not just her life, but her family and community.
Since 1979, Deepalaya has touched nearly 20 million lives and educated over 3,78,000 children. Through our Girl Child Education programme, every sponsored girl is enrolled in school and supported with remedial coaching, textbooks, uniforms, and regular health check-ups. Trained counsellors help her build confidence and essential life skills, while our community teams work closely with parents to shift mindsets, so that a daughter’s education is seen not as a burden, but as a family’s greatest investment.
When you sponsor a girl, you don’t just keep her in school. You give her the chance to choose her own future.
