Job Description:

  • Must have 1-2 years of experience in the same capacity.
  • Implement non-formal education activities for children (3 to 6).
  • Plan and implement effective classroom management practices to develop independent learners and students’ ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Complete daily lesson plans and develop differentiated learning material based on age, educational level, and the individual needs of students.
  • Create a safe classroom environment and promote holistic student well-being.
  • Promote empathy, compassion and respect for the gender, ethnic, religious, cultural, and learning diversity of students.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager in line with overall response in the area of deployment.

Job Summary:

Job role of an Special Educator cum Interpreter to work with Pre-Primary and Primary, Secondary classes as needed to equip Hearing & Speech impaired children with sign language. The selected candidate will manage a class on alternative basis and serve as a communication bridge by translating verbal messages from one language to another.

Key Responsibilities:

A: Intervention Strategies:

Centre –Based and Home- Based Programe:

  • To conduct assessment for the required interventions, frame session’s goals and impart sessions to enrolled beneficiaries.
  • To accompany along with beneficiaries with speech and Hearing Impairments to make effective communication skills in a class, computer lab, Read Aloud Programe, at various other platforms.
  • To facilitate CwSN participation in different events, dance events, sports and competition.
  • To provide necessary support to the learners for vocational skills.
  • To provide adequate support in counselling and guidance to the parents of beneficiaries.
  • To participate actively with parents on regular basis to orient and sensitise them on sign language
  • To promote WASH (Water Sanitation & Hygiene) among all the stakeholders.
  • To adhere and promote organisational policy.

B: Community Visit:

  • Community visits to motivate beneficiaries with special needs as per the need and address the issues needing your professional interventions.
  • Establish a good rapport with the beneficiaries and create awareness among stakeholders to reach out to more communities and identify new cases and intervene according to the needs.

C: Documentation:

  • To frame assessment reports, annual goals and short term goals and file their reports.
  • To submit Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly reports and other assigned reports within the given timeline.
  • To support in office documentation.

D: Liaison, Networking:

  • To support the team in making linkages with various different organizations, governmental and non-governmental organization.
  • To support team in making linkages with different camps of job placements to promote employability, for AID and Appliances.

E: Other:

  • To promote sign language across all Deepalaya projects and staff (wherever needed)
  • To interpret project events that may require sign language interpretation.
  • Any additional that the management finds suitable to your expertise and role.
