Project Pehal

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Rural Areas

Project Pehal was initiated in 2023 in village Sohna (Haryana) with support from Amway India Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. The women-led micro enterprises is a cluster of 4o women from four Self Help Groups (SHG) coming together in rural communities through a sustainable collective model and actively participating in the mainstream demand supply chain. The project empowers women from micro enterprises by enhancing their skills in designing, manufacturing, and marketing contemporary and in demand handcrafted products including apparel, home décor items, stationary and accessories.

This year, the initiative offered intensive training, enhanced market access, and created collaborative platforms where SHGs displayed and marketed their products. The products were in high demand during the festive stalls at more than 20 corporates, some of which even based customised orders for corporate gifting with the SHG. The team launched a new line of product under home decor for the popular macrame crafts and even conducted training with women’s collective and group. The initiative has been awarded at various forums and has won two awards for Impactful CSR Initiatives in Women Empowerment at the India CSR & Sustainability Conclave and the Sunshine Award by Mahavir International. Project Pehal is not only a livelihood initiative but a force for community transformation. By nurturing confidence, leadership, and financial literacy, it continues to create a ripple effect of empowerment, self-sufficiency, and inclusive socio-economic development in rural areas.
